Sicky

At the beginning of November Titus started with a low grade fever on a Sunday morning.  I kept him in the wrap at church - something we haven't done in months - and then as the afternoon went on, the fever went up.  By Monday morning, his fever was even higher!  The fever didn't break until Thursday afternoon.  Monday morning had been his visit to the head specialist down at Children's Hospital to re-evaluate his growth to see if the premature closure of the sutures in his skull was causing any issue.  (It wasn't, PRAISE THE LORD!)  I asked the dr. there if he could just quick look in Ti's ears (even though I didn't suspect an ear infection).  He said he couldn't but that 105.2 was quite high even for a little guy and to be careful about febrile seizures.  When his fever was still 105 for the second day in a row, I started suspecting roseola - a fairly common virus in infants that I remember Lily having as a baby.  BUT she had only a fever for a day - not three.  Well after ANOTHER day, I took him to the dr.  His fever had come down to the 103's and I was hoping she'd rule out a urinary track infection and strep.  She did rule those out with a few miserable tests for Titus.  And she said that roseola actually can have a fever for several days so that could still be an option.  Well, sure enough, as soon as the fever broke on Thursday, a tiny little rash covered the trunk of his body and Mama breathed a sigh of relief - I'll take roseola over any of the other options!  But sheesh, Boy, 105?!?!?  Let's not see that number again - that was way too nerve-wracking!

This was Titus on Sunday afternoon - fever starting to go up...

But then this is when the fever was 105 and Ti was especially achy and unhappy... poor guy.  At least the Motrin/Tylenol regimen and lots of sleep helped him bear the feverish days and nights.
