Daily Journal: 9/17/14

Today is a big day -
I'm taking my mom and dad to the airport for their trip to Tanzania!  This will be my mom's last trip and she has a substantial role in the teaching this time.  She is doing really well.  No pain and able to move and lift easier than a few months ago.  The new medicine has brought her cancer markers down and seemingly has knocked the cancer back enough to reduce her pain.

The kids have AWANA tonight - so exciting that all 4 kids can go!

This morning was a cool morning in school.  We went to a travel agency to get brochures for Lily's school project (in her Sarah, Plain and Tall unit).  She is supposed to create her own travel brochure for a place and we needed to first understand what a brochure is.  It was also great because she was able to get information on the place she wants to research: Tanzania!  (Big surprise - haha!)  This year, we are focusing on the States and I thought this would be an opportunity for her to research a state... but I feel like the Lord was showing me that it was better for her to research Tanzania as it's relevant to her life presently and she is motivated to do the project.  Lily is very passionate about witnessing (although she calls it "missionarying" because she forgets about the word witnessing) and she just loves to learn about the countries Nana and PopPop visit.  So far, during her schooling, they've traveled to Ghana, Indonesia, Mongolia, and now Tanzania.  And of course, PopPop has traveled to Ukraine.

We also went to the pet store and got a new home for our frogs.  I can't believe how much I like them.  I've never been really into pets and stuff, but I really really am fond of Jiminy and Cricket!  Anyway, we got a tank and some Chinese decorations from where we got Sammy (the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors) and some lily bulbs that will hopefully grow in 30 days.  I stuck some of the bamboo in there that we received as a gift when we announced that we were adopting.  I'm excited to see what our little frogs think!
